Several weeks ago I went to the Buckminster Fuller show that was at the MCA, which was amazing. There were a lot of photos about "The Ruse of Medusa," as well as the program. The performers included Merce Cunningham, John Cage, Fuller, and others. It was something to see that photo with Fuller and Cunningham onstage together. (As far as I know, there's no direct Bauhaus link with this performance...)
I've read that the pedagogical framework for Black Mountain College was based on the Bauhaus, mostly because of the influence of Anni and Josef Albers. However, BMC was not just the Bauhaus in North Carolina. I'd like to find out more about some links between the Bauhaus and the Black Mountain poets (Robert Creeley, Charles Olson, Denise Levertov, Robert Duncan, etc.). It's interesting to explore connections between art forms, and in this case I'd like to find out more about connections between poetry and visual art.
Recently I was reading about the work that Josef Albers did at Black Mountain College, as and educator and as an artist. "Black Mountain College: Experiment in Art," edited by Vincent Katz (Cambridge: The MIT Press, 2002), is an excellent book. It is remarkable what kind of impact that Josef and Anni Albers had on BMC. "BMC" the book contains lots of great photos and reproductions of paintings too. http://mitpress.mit.edu/catalog/item/default.asp?ttype=2&tid=9543
